Ernst & Young, a leading global professional services organisation, today announced the appointment of a new global leadership team and the formation of a more highly integrated global organisation. Philip A. Laskawy, Chairman, and James S. Turley, Deputy Chairman and Chairman elect, announced the appointments and the new organisation, under which more than 60 countries will combine operations into 10 geographic areas reporting directly to the firm`s global CEO, William L. Kimsey.
The announcement of the global management team completes the process begun last month with the appointment of Turley as Laskawy`s successor upon Laskawy`s mandatory retirement in 2001.
Appointed as Global Managing Partners are:
John F. Ferraro, Markets, with responsibility for global service lines, industries, global accounts, and sales and marketing; member of Global Executive Board.
Patrick Gounelle, Infrastructure, including knowledge, technology, and information systems; member of Global Executive Board.
Jean-Charles Raufast, Practice Integration, with a focus on emerging markets.
Lewis A. Ting, Human Resources, with responsibility for designing global systems to manage and leverage the firm`s human capital.
The new global leadership team, including Laskawy, Turley, Kimsey, and the Global Managing Partners, will have overall responsibility for implementing the firm`s global vision and strategy, and for the management of geographic area operations.
The ten geographic areas that form the nucleus of the new global organisation include more than 60 countries initially, and will eventually include all practices worldwide. The managing partners of these areas, each of whom is a member of the Global Executive Board, are:
Americas - Richard S. Bobrow
Australia - Brian M. Schwartz
Far East - Anthony T.Y. Wu
France - Patrick Gounelle
Germany - Dietrich Doerner
Italy - Franco Simeoni
Netherlands - Jan L. den Hartog Nordic - Steve J. Ribbestam
Switzerland - Urs Widmer
United Kingdom - Nick C. Land
"We have achieved extraordinary success over the last five years, including record growth and earnings. We have established a pre-eminent global knowledge and technology infrastructure admired by clients and envied by competitors," Laskawy said.
"With the global connected economy coming together as never before, businesses are connecting across borders at Internet speed," added Turley. "These appointments and the structural changes we are making will enable Ernst & Young to respond to the global needs of clients with greater speed and flexibility - and provide clients with the value and confidence they need to move forward successfully in the new millennium."
The new structure will produce appreciable benefits for clients, according to Kimsey. "As a truly integrated global organisation, we will be better able to mobilise and focus the enormous potential of our people and knowledge," Kimsey said. "Clients accustomed to our superior service will receive even better, seamless delivery. We will also be able to provide more innovative products, services, and solutions - with greater speed - and deploy specialised resources more effectively across borders."
