eScan 2003 released at CeBIT

Camsoft announces local release of eScan 2003
Johannesburg, 14 Mar 2003

Leading US-based provider of content security and anti-virus solutions MicroWorld Technologies Inc has released the latest version of its popular PC security product eScan 2003.

The latest version incorporates state-of-the-art, highly advanced and intelligent anti-virus and content security features such as spam and offensive mail control, a pop-up ad blocker, browser clean-up, parental control and remote file access to protect a user`s privacy.

"These features have become a necessity in today`s connected and PC prolific world where virus and security threats such as back-door trojans, snooping and hack attacks are becoming more common occurrences," comments Mathew Newnham, national product manager at Camsoft.

eScan makes use of the revolutionary Microworld Winsock Layer (MWL) which sits between the Winsock Layer and the mail server software. For corporate networks, eScan 2003 has a Management Console that allows system administrators to remotely install and deploy updates, upgrades and uniform security policies over multiple clients from a central server.

Software other than eScan`s security products can also be deployed to clients using the Management Console and a network audit can be performed to determine what hardware and software is installed on the client PC. A live incremental update of virus signatures is standard on both stand-alone and networked versions of eScan with the Management Console distributing the virus string updates to client PCs on the network. Microworld also recently released their mail server anti-virus and content scanning product MailScan 4. This product is ideally suited to environments where Microsoft`s Exchange product, Lotus Notes, Mail Daemon or other popular mail server products are being used.

MailScan includes everything needed to make e-mail as risk-free as possible, including automatic download of anti-virus updates and automatic updates of content control policies, two features that are particularly effective for controlling spam. MailScan 4 also has an extremely fast Multi-threaded IPC (Inter-Process Communication) based, object-type Scanner that allows integration with multiple anti-virus products.

"An additional advantage of the eScan product range to South African customers is that they are very competitively priced when compared to similar offerings from competing vendors," adds Mathew Newnham of Camsoft. "Microworld has been sensitive to the needs of PC users and organisations in countries such as SA and are already reaping the benefits of their pricing policies."
