eScout, a leading e-business solutions provider for mainstream companies, is helping customers reduce purchasing costs and improve relationships with business partners and suppliers with the help of Commerce One, the e-marketplace company.
Leveraging Commerce One MarketSite, the e-marketplace operating environment, eScout is providing business members access to goods and services needed to operate their businesses efficiently, saving time and money, while increasing revenue for eScout suppliers.
With a combined purchasing power in excess of $5 billion, eScout`s 75 000 buyers connect to more than 100 suppliers and can save:
* 5% to 25% on the purchase of indirect materials
* 25% to 50% on inventory carrying costs
* 50% to 65% on administrative costs
Building on this success, eScout`s customer base continues to grow, as new members join at a rate close to 300 per week, up from 100 per week just a year ago.
Michael Bosman, CEO of Commerce One SA - Distributor Operations, says eScout is a strong example of a successful deployment of the Commerce One e-marketplace software. "In SA, large blue chip companies such as M-WebCommerceZone, FirstRand and Bidvest`s Mymarket.com are deploying the same technology for their customers. This is already generating dynamic trading communities with real benefits to both buyers and suppliers."
"Commerce One`s e-marketplace solutions provided a platform for us to build our interfaces for supplier enablement and supplier development. eScout effectively addresses the critical needs of our suppliers with catalogue data management and marketing opportunities to new trading partners," said Sandy Kemper, founder and CEO of eScout. "Commerce One is helping to create new revenue sources for marketplace operators and thus increasing liquidity in e-marketplaces."
In the first year of implementing Commerce One MarketSite, eScout`s transactions have more than doubled, increasing by 108%. Suppliers have gained access to new markets, while selling within a secure and qualified member community. eScout has grown its footprint of participating suppliers from 10 to more than 100 including Office Depot, Compaq, Gateway and Boise Cascade Office Products. In addition, the number of buyers increased from 5 000 to more than 75 000 including major corporations such as Interstate Brands Corporation (IBC), the largest national wholesale baker and distributor of fresh delivered bread, including Home Pride, Wonder and Hostess.
"eScout is becoming an invaluable cost and time saving tool for our business," said Brian Stevenson, Senior Vice President of Purchasing for IBC. "Since joining, we have been able to eliminate the once time-intensive process of managing suppliers and conducting product searches and price comparisons. eScout now provides all of these services and more in one stop."
