Members of the information security elite will meet at a three-day conference in Gauteng to explore increasing security threats facing South Africa from both a business management, as well as a technical perspective. ESET, the global award winning anti-virus software provider, will participate in the 5th Annual ITWeb Security Summit - held from 11 to 13 May 2010 - as an event exhibitor and key sponsor.
The ITWeb Security Summit, moved to the Sandton Convention Centre to accommodate the over 500 delegates and approximately 40 exhibitors, sets out to educate, inform and generate awareness around security risks and issues.
“Apart from the obvious financial implications of having inadequate security, IT security is of paramount importance to any IT manager or business owner concerned with the protection of valuable company data and intellectual capital,” says Carey van Vlaanderen, CEO of ESET Southern Africa.
“Similarly, IT security is essential to any individual or company transacting online. However, identity fraud is perpetrated just as easily via e-mail. Companies that allow their staff Internet access, run the risk of being exposed to spam and phishing scams. It is vital that we educate and inform the market around the importance of having effective up-to-date anti-virus protection.”
