Esquire opens R35m lifestyle office park in Midrand

Johannesburg, 03 Dec 2007

Esquire Technologies, a leading distributor of IT, consumer electronics and digital lifestyle products, opened its new head office in Midrand, at a cocktail party on 28 November, attended by over 350 guests.

Celebrating the occasion and witnessing the 'cutting of the ribbon' ceremony and blessing of the new premises were Esquire's customers, the media, overseas guests representing leading global IT brands, as well as local celebrities and government dignitaries.

Esquire, a total BEE company, has grown from a four-man band operating out of a house in Clubview, Pretoria, to become one of the leaders in the IT distribution industry in southern Africa, with offices in all major centres, 200 staff, and a network partnership of over 9 000 resellers.

Recently, Esquire expanded its local operations by opening a warehouse and offices in Shenzhen, China, which handles the distribution, sales, marketing and support into China, Taiwan, and the EMEA region.

According to Esquire's co-founder and Marketing Director, Mahomed Cassim, Esquire's move marks the expansion of its business to focus on the Esquire range of branded products, from peripherals, consumer electronics, PC components, consumables to desktop and mobile PCs.

"We have also expanded our representation of leading global brands to include renowned names, such as Altec Lansing, BenQ, Kingmax, Seiko-Precision, Intellinet, Kworld, Sony, Chronos, Manhattan, to name a few. In fact, we represent the broadest range of IT-related products in South Africa, which together with our Esquire brand, give our customers a wide choice under one umbrella," added Cassim.

Well known TV presenter of SABC 3's Spirit Sundae, acclaimed actress and children rights' activist, Nadine Naidoo, directed the formalities at the opening event, which focused on Esquire's re-branding based on the slogan 'Be the Change', from Mahatma Ghandi's famous line 'Be the change you want to see in the World'.

Cassim explained at the event: "The establishment of the Esquire Lifestyle Office Park is a culmination of our team effort over the last eight years, and demonstrates that 'Be the change' starts with each person and then manifests into all areas of life. If you want to achieve great things in life, go out there and do it.

"Change," said Cassim, "has brought incredible opportunities and growth to our organisation and people, from staff members starting as cleaners and becoming dynamic receptionists; drivers graduating as skilled technicians, to some of our customers, who started from a one-man reseller on a motorbike to becoming the owner of IT stores."

The 6 500 square metre Esquire Lifestyle Office Park, adjacent to the M1 highway, houses the Xpress Warehouse, conference centre, assembly lines for PCs and notebooks, a training centre for customers and staff, and a child day-care centre.
