Leading and award-winning distributor of IT and digital lifestyle products, Esquire Technologies, won the Top Empowered Company Award for its contribution to the retail industry in this year's Metropolitan Oliver Empowerment Awards (MOEA) hosted by Topco Media.
The MOEA, held at Sandton Convention Centre on 25 March 2010, acknowledged, congratulated and celebrated the efforts made by all local companies across the board, from leading corporate, small individual companies and government departments towards the development and promotion of employment equity and B-BBEE in every sphere of South African life.
Scooping the award for the evening under this category reaffirms Esquire's focus on the small to medium enterprise retail market, which has not only been instrumental in building the business, but also in promoting job creation with a 40% staff increase within the organisation since last year.
Esquire's development of a strong network and alliances with SME resellers is a further demonstration of Esquire's contribution to the South African economy. Esquire works closely with these retailers and assists them to grow their businesses by bringing new innovative cutting-edge technology from global markets, such as the US, Europe, Middle East and Pacific Rim.
Esquire Technologies' Managing Director, Asgar Mahomed, said: “As a truly BBBEE South African IT company, Esquire's slogan 'be the change' from Mahatma Ghandi's 'Be the change you want to see in the world', encapsulates the heart, personality, people and brand essence of our organisation and the way we do business with our valued clients.
“Esquire constantly strives to foster a culture of initiating a positive change and enhancing quality of life for employees and stakeholders,” said Mahomed.
Esquire has consistently achieved strong financial performance, demonstrated by a steady growth year on year, with a strong emphasis on productivity.
Esquire has many recent achievements under its belt, which includes 16 individual awards in various categories as well as the prestigious CRN Distributor of the Year Award 2009. In addition, Mahomed was announced as the Business Person of the Year in the FNB Islamic Finance Business Award 2009 for his contribution towards sustainable economic development, as well as community upliftment. Esquire was also runner up in the Large Business Entity category.
