Estate agents` board in IT overhaul

The Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) has issued a request for proposals for financial management and relationship management (CRM) solutions.

The EAAB is the body of the estate agency industry in SA, with the aim of protecting consumer rights, according to Sello Khumalo, IT manager at the EAAB. Over 15 500 agencies, housing about 67 000 estate agents, are registered with the EAAB.

He says after the closing date for proposals on 31 July, the regulator will request interested vendors to make formal presentations on their proposed solutions.

The regulator is using a solution which was developed in-house sometime in the 1980s, he notes.

"Next year we also want to bring in online registration facilities - so the financial and CRM systems should take this into account," says Khumalo.

The tender document lists the requirements of the new solution as:

* Maintenance of estate agents and agencies records
* Registration processing
* Accounting
* Storing legal records of agencies
* Maintenance and processing of exams
* Online registration
* E-learning
* Claims administration
* VIP payroll integration to the CRM
* Imaging integration

The contract will be awarded sometime before the end of next month, he confirms.
