Eurotel Praha launches Comverse`s 'Who Called Me` in Czech Republic

Johannesburg, 08 Apr 2004

Comverse, the supplier of software solutions to MTN and Vodacom and over 30 service providers throughout Africa, has supplied Eurotel Praha, the largest wireless operator in the Czech Republic, with "Who Called Me" for deployment to the carrier`s more than four million GSM subscribers.

Who Called is an element of Comverse ImPact, a solution featuring quickly deployable call completion services designed to have a positive impact on revenues.

Comverse Who Called notifies consumers, by SMS, of phone numbers of inbound calls that cannot be completed for reasons such as: out-of-range user, depleted device battery, turned off device, or if a caller upon reaching the voicemail system hangs up without leaving a voice message. With Who Called, many calls lost to the network are now made available to subscribers, which can lead to a rise in network activity and additional revenue when Who Called users call back the initiators of the calls.

"Who Called is a convenient free service for Eurotel customers who want to know who was trying to contact them when they were unavailable, and then have the option to call or text them later. Deployment was quick and the launch went well," said Garrison Macri, Eurotel chief commercial officer.

"The value to Eurotel is that it addresses all calls in the network - increasing call completion and helping us to better serve our subscribers. Those with voicemail will now be able to obtain the telephone numbers of callers who don`t leave messages. Those without voicemail will be notified of the many calls that until now were not reported by the system."

ImPact

The Comverse ImPact Services suite makes it possible for service providers to increase ARPU (average revenue per user). ImPact leverages current network equipment and subscriber usage habits to introduce new, successful services with a very short time-to-market. ImPact improves call completion rates by introducing new call completion services that generate new traffic, such as Who Called and Notify Me, and by increasing penetration and usage of the current voicemail service. ImPact services are easy to deploy and intuitive to use -- requiring little or no user education -- and are designed to deliver a quick and attractive return on investment.
