Evangelyze introduces SmartVOIP
Evangelyze Communications has introduced its SmartVOIP solution, which integrates MS Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 and Exchange Server 2007 for the enterprise with MS Response Point small-business IP phone systems, says VOIP Planet.
This eliminates long-distance charges between branch offices and enables direct extension dialling for those offices.
Evangelyze will also release a series of applications for OCS and Exchange, including SmartSearch, a tool for searching and retrieving archived messages; SmartConference, which supports Web-based scheduling for on-premise conferencing; and SmartSpeech, a text-to-speech solution designed to allow hearing-impaired users to participate in conference calls.
Xerox reports on business model
At its annual investor conference, Xerox Corporation said its annuity-based business model, strong operating cash flow, and document management services and technology are assets in tough economic times, reports GraphicRepro.
"We're managing our operations with a close eye on the bottom line. The restructuring actions we're taking this quarter are expected to deliver $200 million in savings next year, giving us greater flexibility to operate even more efficiently and effectively in an uncertain economic environment," said Anne Mulcahy, Xerox chairman and CEO.
"Despite the current economy, the backlog of orders for our products and a 14% increase this year in signings for document services, along with our disciplined approach to cost management, give us confidence in the overall health of our business and our ability to navigate through these challenging times," she added.
Epson unveils Stylus Office
Digital imaging company Epson unveiled the Epson Stylus Office, a range of printers engineered to specifically meet the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), states Hardware Zone.
In view of the rising material costs and a possible economic slowdown, SMEs face even more pressure to minimise their operating costs. A regional survey done by Gartner in 2007 showed companies spend up to 3% of business revenue on document printing.
The Asean SME Development Survey found 58% of SMEs cited rising operations costs as a key concern to the bottom line and barrier to growth. As such, managing cost of operations will be key to the sustainability of SMEs.
