Expresso expands Office support
Cloud-based business solutions provider Expresso has unveiled the eXpresso platform for Microsoft Office, featuring full collaborative support for both Word and PowerPoint, in addition to its existing Excel support, says eWeek.
The expanded capability allows multiple users of Microsoft Office documents to share and simultaneously edit text and presentation files while preserving file formatting, regardless of the software version in use on the desktop.
The platform preserves document formatting even across multiple versions of Office, allowing users of Office 2003 and 2007 to collaborate with Office 2010 users.
EASA tackles spreadsheet troubles
EASA claims to have come up with a secure solution to the problem it calls 'spreadsheet version drift' by placing a master spreadsheet matrix behind a controlling wall that allows easy spreadsheet file viewing and modification, but prohibits the underlying mathematical structure from being modified, reports Info Security.
The firm's spreadsheet defence technology is billed as creating a Web interface using a codeless application that effectively places the authenticated spreadsheet calculus in amber, allowing users to view - and within carefully defined limits and by explicit users - the data to be modified on a granularly controlled basis.
According to Mel Glass, EASA's director of business development, horror stories in the press about companies having billions wiped off their share value due to misreported financial results are becoming a lot more common.
Zagu to streamline operating processes
Zagu Foods, a local brand of pearl shakes, will adopt a single, integrated business management application to streamline processes in sales, inventory, finance and accounting, as well as procurement, Business World Online states.
Erwin Spencer Lim, Zagu Foods COO, says the firm needed “to resolve inefficiency caused by disparate computer systems that different business units were using to manage inventory, accounting and point of sale.”
“We will employ SAP Philippines's Business One solution that will integrate core businesses functions across Zagu Foods' entire operation, eliminating the need for separate installations and complex of multiple modules.
