Management planning and control (MPC ) software vendor, Comshare Inc. has announced support for Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server 6, broadening the horizon for many customers by allowing them to extend their analysis of management information.
According to Gavin Steinberg of SPL, the sophisticated attribute analysis provided in Hyperion Essbase 6 provides improved analytic functionality as well as greater scalability and performance. "Our extensive customer base in South Africa will benefit substantially from this new version," he says.
Comshare licenses Hyperion Essbase from Hyperion for resale as an underlying OLAP platform for Comshare BudgetPLUS and Comshare DecisionWeb.
Comshare's analytic applications are built upon the Comshare Application Architecture. This architecture consists of three-tiers-database server, application server, client delivery-supporting multiple databases and both client/server and web-based delivery.
Steinberg explains that Comshare helps customers analyse their needs and define an application for managing their business processes, and then applies its extensive expertise to deliver the right solution. "These solutions can range from client/server to Web-based management planning and control systems running on the world's leading mainstream databases, including Hyperion Essbase.
"Many of Comshare's customers use Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server as their underlying enterprise OLAP platform," he comments. "Our application architecture will allow customers to immediately take advantage of many of the new Hyperion Essbase 6 features over the web, via client server, or a mixture of both environments on multiple server platforms."
