EZ Call, Ukash offer wholesale VOIP

Provider of enterprise voice-over-Internet protocol (VOIP) services, EZ Call has partnered with Ukash, reports TMCnet.

The companies say the partnership means EZ Call customers can use Ukash vouchers to purchase wholesale VOIP calling credits.

Ukash global e-money network includes approximately 420 000 global physical issuing points across 33 countries.

Competition drives VOIP revenue

VOIP revenue growth is being driven by increased competition, according to ABI Research, states BCS.

The market is set to see consistent growth over the next few years, with revenue reaching $4.8 billion by 2015, states the research firm.

Dan Shey, the organisation's practice director, says: “Hosted IP PBX services are expected to finish the year with a 15.3% increase in revenue to $3.4 billion, worldwide. Besides North America, Asia-Pacific will also be aggressive with hosted VOIP deployments.”

M5 Networks snaps up Geckotech

Hosted VOIP provider M5 Networks has acquired Chicago-based Geckotech for $8 million, says eWeek.

The combined companies will handle what company officials describe as the "exploding demand" for business-grade hosted VOIP services.

Under the deal, M5 Networks will take over all of Geckotech's staff, customers and centres. M5 Networks claims that the acquisition will make it the largest specialised hosted VOIP provider in the US.
