JSE-listed Y3K`s Information Security Division (Gas Software) the sole distributor for F-Secure Corporation (previously known as Data Fellows Finland) in Africa, today announced that F-Secure has received further recognition for the virus searching capabilities of its F-Secure Anti-Virus product.
F-Secure Anti-Virus received 100% detection rates and 99% disinfection rates in a large anti-virus test in the German CHIP magazine`s May 2000 edition. F-Secure Anti-Virus achieved clearly higher detection and disinfection rates than the competing products.
In addition of the outstanding detection rates, CHIP magazine praised the regular updates and moderate resource consumption of F-Secure Anti-Virus.
In the comparative review, F-Secure Anti-Virus detected 100% of in-the-wild boot, file, macro and script viruses, getting better detection rates than the competing products, including products from Network Associates, Symantec, Computer Associates International or Trend Micro.
The University of Magdeburg and GEGA Software conducted the independent test for CHIP Magazine.
