WorkLight is reminding companies of their need for tighter security controls, in light of the recent spate of Facebook phishing incidents.
"Companies currently gain substantial B2B and B2C benefits by using social networking sites to uplift sales and promote their products and services. Yet, as phishers target Facebook users, secure access to these sites is a must-have on the security front," said David Lavenda, WorkLight's vice-president of marketing and strategy.
According to Lavenda, hackers have been targeting Facebook users with phishing e-mails, as well as messages posted to members' walls, in a bid to route users to forged login pages.
Industry analysts say that these specific campaigns use multiple IP addresses that auto-rotate approximately every three minutes.
"More than anything, it highlights the need for enterprises to use a secure Web 2.0 access solution to prevent their staff, partners and customers from falling victim to this type of fraud," Lavenda noted.
