While only 65% of US teens think Facebook is "cool", it is the most "hyper-used" social network.

A report released by Forrester Research on Monday found that just 65% of US social users aged 12 to 17 think the social network is "cool", ranking it below competitors such as Twitter (69%), Vine (72%), Instagram (78%), Snapchat (79%), and YouTube (80%).

Yet what Facebook lacks in "cool" factor, it makes up in usage, the report found.

Seventy-eight percent of respondents said they used Facebook at least one a month, outstripped only by YouTube at 80%. "Cooler" competitors fell behind in this metric, with Instagram at 55%, Twitter at 50%, and Snapchat at 45%.

Around 61% of respondents said Facebook is the social network they use the most, and 47% said they were using the site more this year than they had last year.

What is more, the social network "generates more hyper-usage than any other social site", according to the report, which states that about one third of teen Facebook users say they are using it "all the time".

Forrester Research surveyed 4 485 teens in April 2015 for these results, and estimated a 1.5 percentage point margin of error for the report.
