Facebook has become one of the most popular tools within the social media environment. As private or business individuals, we all have many connections, or "friends", on Facebook, and for most of us, approximately 30% to 40% of our friends share the same industry practice as we do. Out of the balance of friends on Facebook, you have at least 30% who you could do business with as possible value-added services to your own product portfolio.
We were not aware of the possible business opportunities until we created our CBX Tech Facebook page and "invited" our current Facebook friends to "like" and "follow" the page. Within the first 50 likes on Facebook, we already had 12 leads on potential business through this social media application. We currently have 515 likes and so far around 10% to 15% of these "likes" have resulted in successful business contracts.
Ship's Captain, Michael Vorster, shares: "It's a great way of building relationships with your clients by creating an out-of-office relationship. CBX Tech also uses this social media tool to congratulate our customers on their achievements and share their success stories. With the amount of money spent on Facebook advertising, the business generated from it is a no-brainer when considering your marketing budget."
Our Facebook page was created in August 2011 and has been shared among many individuals, even on their personal pages. Running smaller type competitions on our Facebook page also assists in marketing at no cost to more readers and Facebook users than initially expected. The followers of the CBX Tech Facebook page are informed about the general trends internationally and locally when it comes to communication (both voice and data), ideal for any ICT news watcher. All the news and links published on our Facebook page are linked to our Twitter account as well as our LinkedIn profile. Any postings done on our Facebook page by our administrator of our Facebook page is automatically posted to our Twitter and LinkedIn accounts, keeping all followers updated on what the industry offers and, of course, how we may assist. Our Web site, www.cbxtech.co.za, also has a section dedicated to any Facebook updates posted, which may be viewed while browsing the site.

"Facebook has brought a whole new element to the way in which we connect with new prospects and current accounts. It's a phenomenal tool; my job role as an account manager has also been impacted by the social media craze. Facebook offers us an opportunity to share our success stories, share moments of past events, and give insight into industry trends with our friends, our family and their friends and family. This gives CBX Tech an interpersonal relationship with the public, and most importantly, our customers and potential business partners. Referral business is the best kind of business, Facebook is the stage and the world is our audience," says New Business Adventurer, Emmanuel Sequeira.
