Social media giant Facebook has developed new ways for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to easily advertise to audiences outside their home country.
In SA, 50% of people who have a Facebook profile are connected to at least one SME in a foreign country. The top five countries are the US, UK, India, Australia and Pakistan. More than 57 million people from around the world are connected to a business in SA.
This week, the company introduced four new cross-border solutions to make it easier for all businesses to grow internationally.
The first is dynamic language optimisation, which allows businesses to include multiple languages in one campaign, and Facebook will match the right language to the person based on their profile language.
The second is the introduction of multi-country 'lookalike audiences' which lets companies target their next best customers in any combination of countries or regions.
The third solution allows organisations to target certain cities in new countries above a certain population size, allowing the SME to cut back on researching where to invest its ad dollars.
The last new solution, Facebook IQ Cross-Border Insights Finder, helps advertisers discover information about untapped markets for their business by providing comparative country data based on past campaign performance across Facebook, Instagram and Facebook's own advertising platform, Audience Network.
Facebook has developed an e-learning course to help businesses take advantage of these new options, called Expand Across Borders with Facebook.
