Fahb Distributors, part of the Fahb Group - a distributor of toiletries and cosmetics for the black market - has opted to install the Vytill point of sale (point of sale) and accounting software package from JSE-listed Casey at 11 of its stores, including its head office in Johannesburg.
The roll-out of Vytill, which includes an installation at Fahb`s Cape Town offices, is expected to be concluded by June 2000.
This was confirmed by Ebrahim Wahab, managing director of Casey Consulting, the Casey Group subsidiary responsible for the roll-out. The company is also to supply all hardware requirements, including the provision of at least 25 Casey-branded PCs.
Vytill is specifically aimed at the SOHO and SME retail markets.
All seven of Casey`s subsidiaries - which focus on multiple skills ranging from hardware and software, to networking, maintenance and Internet delivery - focus on the SOHO and SME markets. Wahab said that, as a result, Vytill has been developed to "fit snugly into this market sector".
One of the software`s strengths is the in-built ability of its back office component to synchronise the data between the head office and the branch, or franchise outlet.
This feature is seen as a major advantage for retailers as it significantly reduces running costs. "Because Vytill is specifically designed for small to medium-sized enterprises - and because this has also been taken into consideration when it comes to the overall pricing - retailers are able to maximise the full potential of their businesses without having to make allowances for an uncomfortable capital outlay."
Other recent Vytill roll-outs currently being conducted by Casey include ABC Sweets and Kit Kat, the general retailer.
