Fashionably small, attractively economical, basically black

Johannesburg, 30 Sep 2003

With all the noise in the market about colour lasers delivering fabulous printouts at unbelievable low costs, one tends to forget that the majority of printing done by small corporations and personal users remains black and white. Colour is useful, but only in the minority of business printing situations.

"In most cases, single users and small companies require good quality black-and-white printing from laser printers that can deliver the speed users want without compromising on quality or charging exorbitant prices," says Mark Purves, HP IPG product manager at Tarsus Technologies.

"For these users, HP has released the HP LaserJet 1010 series laser printer, a compact, reliable and easy-to-use personal printer, ideal for creating high-quality mono documents."

The 1010 supports instant-on technology, which enables the printer to produce the first page in less than 10 seconds. More importantly, during normal printing, the 1010 supports speeds of up to 14 pages per minute.

"Although the competitive pricing may indicate an entry-level system, its performance leaves competitors in its price range eating its toner," adds Purves. "Additionally, the printer`s small size means it fits easily onto a desk or any other easy-to-reach or out-of-the-way spot."

HP has also ensured that setting up the 1010 is simple, enabling users to become productive in the shortest possible time. This simplicity extends to the All-in-One print cartridge design, which has been developed to make installation simple and convenient, as well as economical.

The HP LaserJet 1010 is compatible with all commonly used operating systems, including Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000 and XP, as well as Mac OS 9 and OS X, delivering clear text and smooth greyscales with up to 1 200dpi effective output quality using HP Resolution Enhancement technology.

"The LaserJet 1010 may be a small form factor printer, but its size belies its performance and delivery capability," concludes Purves. "If the reliability and quality is not enough for most users, the printer`s low total cost of ownership makes the LaserJet 1010 a safe bet every time."
