Fedics, the food services division of Tsebo Outsourcing Group, has acquired the technical integration expertise of Integr8 IT to help provide its contracted catering and allied services to Sanlam.
Fedics is segmented to recognise the different needs of its clientele. These segments cover a wide area and include education, healthcare, leisure as well as industrial operations. Sanlam has outsourced its entire catering operation to Fedics and this contract, says Fedics operations manager Ian Pursch, falls into the Business Select segment which is the specialist division looking after corporate offices.
The catering operation involves the management of a fast food court, a buffet restaurant, an a la carte restaurant, two coffee shops, a tea bar, a fresh sandwich outlet, a convenience store, and other services including executive catering, tea and coffee services and function catering.
Says Pursch: "The till system has to handle cash sales, charges to cost centres and payroll deductions accumulated during each month. Staff identify themselves for payroll charges using their building access cards."
According to Pursch, Fedics approached Integrity to install the Quicktill solution and it was through Integrity that Fedics came to learn of Integr8 IT`s proactive service.
"We previously ran an in-house point of sale system and also supported the hardware ourselves. The complexity of the site, involving 16 tills spread among seven busy outlets in different parts of a very large building and linked by a LAN to an administrative area, made outsourcing of the operation attractive. The large amount of hardware involved, including the large physical area covered by the network, made it sensible to also outsource hardware support to Integr8 IT."
