Fedsure opts for Microsoft server system

Johannesburg, 20 Jul 1999

Marius Nel, manager of Enterprise Connection `s and Software Consulting Division said the deployment entails Fedsure`s approximately 4 000 users and some 20 servers. "The new, unified Microsoft Exchange Server Messaging and Collaboration system will replace a number of mailing systems including Lotus cc:Mail, Lotus Notes and mainframe-based mail (SYSM)." The total value of the project is estimated to be around R1.5 million.

Nel commented that Fedsure chose Enterprise Connection to be its implementation partner based on the fact that Enterprise Connection has a very strong Exchange and Project management base and further mentioned that by awarding this substantial contract to Enterprise Connection, Fedsure is demonstarting its faith in Enterprise Connection to complete the contract in time and on budget. The contract had been won by Enterprise Connection against strong competition.

"With Enterprise Connection`s extremely close professional relationship with the local Microsoft subsidiary it is natural that our solutions design will fall in line with Microsoft`s Nervous System . "In short," said Nel , "Enterprise Connection will deploy a class-leading system into Fedsure and provide long-term technical expertise and support."

The main benefits to be derived by Fedsure include lower ownership and administration costs, a unified messaging system that allows information sharing and group scheduling for the entire Fedsure group worldwide. The system will also leverage off the tight integration of Microsoft Exchange Server with the Internet.
