Less than a year after joining Unisys Africa as MD and VP, local ICT veteran Henry Ferreira has resigned.

A Microsoft spokesman confirmed that Ferreira will join the software giant as enterprise and partner group director of its local operations, with effect from 1 September. Ferreira takes over from Hennie Loubser, who recently resigned.

Ferreira joined Unisys last year, having worked in the South African ICT sector for more than 20 years.

He was previously based in London as Nokia Networks' VP for the Africa region, before it was amalgamated into the Nokia Siemens Network partnership.

Unisys was unable to provide comment about Ferreira's resignation at the time of publication. Ferreira is out of the country at the moment and was also unable to comment.

He previously stated he intends to grow Unisys' business and take it "to the next level of competitiveness".

Prior to his stint with Nokia, Ferreira worked for Hewlett-Packard and before that for Compaq.
