Siyabonga Magagula, a 23-year-old from Soweto, studied at Fons Luminis Secondary school, where he excelled in computer studies. His goal, once he matriculated, was to study IT at the University of Johannesburg.
With both parents unemployed, his greatest challenge was to receive a bursary. Magagula explored various routes and job opportunities and felt very disheartened and frustrated. He was later introduced by a friend to the www.fetch.my portal, where he could explore a multitude of IT titles.
He purchased a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Self-Paced Training Kit, and due to the fact that Magagula already had a basic knowledge of computers, using the kit was a natural progression.
The kit provided him with in-depth exam preparation plus practice tests for Microsoft Certified IT Professional Enterprise Administrator certification. Tools and features that exam candidates need most, self-paced training based on final exam content, objective by objective reviews, exam tips from expert exam-certified authors and customisable testing options. “The practical exercises in the kit allowed me to work at my own pace; I could assess myself using the review questions on the CD and I could get explanations for the right and wrong answers,” explained Magagula.
Coming from a disadvantaged situation did not stop Magagula from finding another alternative, and the (MCITP) self-paced training kit helped him reach his goal. Magagula now works as a Microsoft Certified Engineer trainee at a local technical school in his community; the kit allowed him to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to go out and begin his career in the IT field.
It is heart warming case studies such as this that encourage Intersoft to expose as many youngsters as possible to information in their various fields of study, and in so doing, launching them into their careers of choice.
