End-to-end cabling solutions provider Fibreplus has expanded its business into the KwaZulu-Natal region by acquiring the interests of Allemann Cables Natal trading as Stanmo Cables and Technologies.
Fibreplus MD Dave Fawcett says Stanmo has established offices in Richards Bay and Durban with an impressive list of blue-chip clients in the transport, mining and minerals, healthcare, commercial and industrial markets. It also has a strong dealer channel in the region.
"KwaZulu-Natal is becoming one of the major engines of economic growth in South Africa, and for that reason we felt it to be critically important to establish a presence in the region," he says.
"Our acquisition of Stanmo puts us in a strong position to capitalise on the opportunities offered by the development of new shopping centres and casinos in KwaZulu-Natal."
Stanley Moodley, MD of Stanmo, says his company has positioned itself as a major force in the KwaZulu-Natal region, but needed a partner to help it reach the next level in its development.
"Up until now, most of our business has come from the supply of copper products to our channel. In the next phase of our growth, we needed access to fibre cabling skills and products, and that is exactly what Fibreplus can offer us," he adds.
Over the next few months, Fibreplus will train Stanmo`s staff in fibre technology. In time, the Stanmo name will be phased out and the company will adopt the Fibreplus brand.
Fibreplus now has a presence in most of South Africa`s major economic and industrial, including Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Bloemfontein.
