Fibreplus, the South African supplier of end-to-end computer cabling solutions, has signed a distribution agreement with Zambia`s Compsource International.
In terms of the agreement, the Fibreplus range of fibre and copper cabling, together with networking equipment and components, will be marketed by Compsource.
Emannuel Mwape, MD of Compsource, says the market for structured cabling systems and network installations in Zambia is "booming" following the privatisation of the copper and cobalt mines.
"Privatisation has resulted in a significant cash injection into the Zambian economy and a dramatic rise in business activity in both the private sector and government.
"Compsource is well positioned to cater for this demand both within Zambia and beyond our borders. We have formed a number of key partnerships with suppliers of computer products and solutions and are looking to address markets in Malawi, Tanzania and Zaire which will soon feel the ripple effects of the buoyant Zambian economy," he says.
Fibreplus director, Dave Fawcett, says the distribution deal with Compsource is in line with his company`s move into Africa.
"We are gearing up to provide training as well as back-up technical support to our channel partners and end users in African countries," he says.
