Fifth Internetix draws over 1 000 IS customers

Johannesburg, 05 Aug 2004

Internet Solutions (IS), the country`s largest independent network service provider, has been holding its annual Internetix conference for five consecutive years. This year was no exception and saw the user conference kicking off in Cape Town at the BMW Pavilion on 22 July.

"Over 300 of our customers attended the Cape Town Internetix, and more than 800 at the Johannesburg event," says Angus MacRobert, CEO for Internet Solutions. "We were delighted with this turnout as business pressures don`t always allow people to take time out from their offices."

Internetix is by invitation only for IS customers and partners and consists of a full day at each venue. The presentations include keynotes, IS subject specialists and guest presenters on topics ranging from business issues, industry trends to technical subjects.

"The success of this year`s conference far exceeded our expectations," says MacRobert, "and is an indication of how our business has grown over the past 12 months."

Keynote addresses this year were by Dimension Data Chairman Designate Andile Ngcaba, Dr Garth Japhet, executive director of Soul City, and David Rattray, who was riveting to say the least. Business presenters included Andre Wills of the Africa Analysis Team, Brian Neilson of BMI-TechKnowledge as well as presenters from IBM and SensePost. The afternoon technical sessions featured topics on hosting, security, satellite VPN, MPLS, mobility and anti-spam.

"We have enjoyed a 30% increase in attendance over 2003," says IS marketing manager Kate Shackleton. "We are starting to plan next year`s event and will be using the excellent feedback given to us by our delegates.
