Last year`s giant step from the Knockout Kings series to the Fight Night series left one wondering where it would go next. No one could predict the kind of monster it would grow into.

Brace yourself for the all-new EA Sports Fight Night - Round 2.

The objective is to climb to the top of the ranks, eventually defending your own title, much like in the real world. Choose or create a fighter and get ready for a beating. The game features a list of world famous boxing legends that make you think twice about skipping the training sessions before starting the career mode. Strangely, Mike Tyson was once again emitted from the list of fighters.

Although adding extra features to the previous release offering seemed impossible, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that not only are they there, major improvements in graphics and gameplay have been made too.

Boxers get a couple of bruises when taking on heavy weight champions of the world. The new character role of trainer refreshes the fighter, reduces facial swelling, patches up cuts and gives good advice on strategy between rounds.

New training features lead to a more detailed world of boxing, with different punching and body movement exercises. Good preparation for what follows in the career mode.

No massive changes were made to the punch-control system, which is not necessarily a bad thing as it was only introduced in last year`s edition. Smoother gameplay is the result of more refined character movement. Fighters` techniques sport great new punches.

This time around semi uppercuts - even different angle hooks and jabs - are used to attack opponents, but what really stands out are the new and creative low blows. These can easily cause a disqualification, however. Grabbing an opponent is also new and is useful just before getting knocked down, as it allows the fighter to stay standing a while longer and regain consciousness faster.

Excellent graphics and sound, with brilliant movement and knockout animations make Fight Night - Round 2 a fighting game of note. Think of it not as pure arcade fun, but as a sophisticated sports simulation.
