Financial analysts give Peregrine top marks for productsForbes magazine ranks Peregrine Systems, Inc sixth among leading software companies
Johannesburg, 04 Sep 2001

Peregrine Systems, Inc. one of the world`s leading companies, represented locally by MGX, today announced that Forbes magazine has ranked the company sixth among software companies on the Forbes ASAP Dynamic 100 list, ahead of Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe and others. Peregrine scored 4.67 out of a possible 5 in each of the three key categories of "Change," "Opportunity," and "People."

Forbes ASAP lauded Steve Gardner, Peregrine chairman and CEO, for his "great vision" and highlighted Peregrine`s growth through acquisitions, underscoring "the recent purchase of e-commerce software maker Harbinger, which analysts see as greatly sharpening its competitive edge."

Gardner said, "It is an honor to be included among an elite group of technology companies on the Forbes ASAP Dynamic 100 list. We are delighted that the financial analyst community not only recognizes our pragmatic solutions, which deliver a rapid return on investment by minimizing friction in business processes, but also the importance of our worldwide workforce to Peregrine`s success."

The Forbes ASAP Dynamic 100 recognizes technology companies in each of eight categories (semiconductors, software, , and telecom, biotechnology, network and telecom, peripherals and hardware) that have weathered a difficult macroeconomic environment and continued to perform. Forbes ASAP compiled an initial list of 300 companies, then polled hundreds of financial analysts, asking them to rank each company based on the following factors:

1. Change: How well does the company respond to change? 2. Opportunity: How big is the potential market for the company`s products? 3. Sell: How well does the company respond to its market opportunity? 4. People: How strong is the company`s human capital? 5. Alliances: How strong are its partners and its relationships? 6. Ramp: How fast is the company growing, and can it continue to ramp up quickly? 7. Financials: How strong is the company`s overall financial health?
