FireID partners with ESET

FireID has partnered with ESET, the award-winning global leader in proactive digital protection, to develop ESET Secure Authentication: a Two Factor One-Time Password Authentication System for Company Networks.

ESET Secure Authentication is the result of combining FireID's world-class soft token solution with ESET experience and expertise designing, developing and selling security products in more than 180 countries during the last 20 years.

The product is a highly secure mobile two-factor, one-time-password (2FA OTP) authentication system that makes use of end-users' mobile phones when connecting to company networks. This simple and lightweight solution provides another layer to the authentication process besides the regular username/password. It works with iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7 and 8, Windows Mobile and J2ME-based phones. The solution even supports older mobile phones unable to run applications via authentication based on SMS messages. It's another addition to the ESET portfolio of solutions protecting company data in the age of mobile technologies.

The product was launched in North America at the end of February, is currently available in more than 40 countries including South Africa, and is being rolled out to all of ESET's 180 Country Partners.

It has subsequently diversified into a broader business focused on partnering with founders to start and grow a number of companies, including Embark (mobile workforce technology), SnapScan (mobile payments), Admo (interactive advertising) and the recently exited Pondering Panda (mobile-based market research). FireID Security is one such partnership, aimed at bringing secure authentication to a global audience.
