Firms make progress in governance issues

Borland says while organisations across the world are making progress with IT management and , they are still falling short in key process areas like project management, portfolio management, demand management and resource management, reports Business Wire.

Borland`s study, which consisted of self-assessments completed by IT professionals at 125 organisations in 29 countries, still found a relatively low level of maturity in how organisations define project goals, allocate resources and, most importantly, measure overall success of their IT portfolio.

The survey also found companies` management and efforts are frequently challenged by the inability to integrate their systems for managing application development - which contain vital data and assets - with their overall management and governance processes.

Aussie university revamps IT governance structure

The University of Western Sydney (UWS) has remodelled its IT governance structure, reports ZDNet.

Now, a standing committee of the university`s board of trustees replaces an internal group of stakeholders. The university hopes the new model would give IT a significantly higher profile in the university`s decision-making processes.

The move comes as UWS in recent months called in external consultants to review its IT function.

Bangladesh govt agencies ignore e-governance directive

Non-cooperation from key Bangladesh government organs under different ministries is hampering the government`s entry into the era of e-governance, reports The Financial Express.

The delay is in preparing and updating Web sites at departments such as the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, National Board of Revenue, Economic Relations Division, Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Chittagong Port Authority and the Forest Department.

The Prime Minister`s Office has reiterated its request that these sites be updated on a regular basis with the latest data within 15 days.
