Vision Solutions, a leading managed availability solutions provider and Premier IBM Business Partner, and Telefonica Data USA, Inc., a subsidiary of Telefonica DataCorp S.A., a part of the Telefonica Group, today announced a partnership to jointly develop and provide real-time data replication and high availability services for multinational corporations doing business between the US, Latin America and Europe. Based on IBM iSeries technology, these services support customer needs for Business Continuity by hosting data in multiple locations. Telefonica Data will provide hosting facilities and network connectivity from the KeyCenter, their 173,000 square-foot IP communications hub of the Americas, located in Miami, Florida.
Through this partnership with Vision Solutions, Telefonica Data will offer extremely high speed, real-time replication of iSeries applications and data, helping multinational corporations avoid downtime caused by planned and unplanned outages, including natural or man-made disasters. In many cases, customers can resume operations in as quickly as twenty minutes. "We are extremely excited to help iSeries users better protect their mission-critical data, systems and applications," said Ron Jones, Vice President of Operations for Telefonica Data USA, Inc. "Our combination of high-speed network and highly reliable data center facilities, together with Vision Solutions` Vision Suite(tm) software, provides an extremely innovative, comprehensive and cost effective solution, saving customers the cost of dedicated bandwidth and capital investment."
The services to be offered by Telefonica Data and Vision Solutions include:
Remote real-time replication and tape backup of all data and non-data objects from the production system to help protect against loss of data in case of an unplanned outage or disaster, or planned downtime required for tape backups. With this service, tape backups will be made at Telefonica Data`s KeyCenter in Miami.
Remote hot site to which all data and non-data objects are replicated to a fully operational secondary site, and to which users can be temporarily routed through IP address takeover in the case of any downtime of the production system, be it planned, or unplanned.
Telefonica Data, IBM, and Vision Solutions recently unveiled the solution with customers in Puerto Rico, where Business Continuity is of prime concern.
"Many iSeries users in Latin America and beyond have been searching for a practical way to avoid user downtime in order to conduct backups, and protect their data in case of planned or unplanned outages," said Ron Peeters, senior director of business development for Vision Solutions. "Using these innovative services offered by Telefonica Data, customers can enjoy state-of-the-art technology, without making huge investments in hardware and circuits. They pay only for what they need, priced per gigabyte of data they wish to protect."
