First Kenyan CA User Group established

Johannesburg, 31 Oct 2005

Indicative of the company`s growing success in Africa, Computer Associates Africa has aided in the establishment of the first CA User Group in Kenya. The user group was initiated by key CA users that included Kenya Airways, East African Breweries, Co-Operative Bank of Kenya, Commercial Bank of Africa, Swift Global, Nation Media and others.

Following extensive planning and talks between the various role players, it was decided to establish a user group in the country that would act as a central hub of information sharing.

It had in recent months become clear that there was a real need for a platform that would enable the various CA users in the country to discuss their latest developments, gains as well as unique and more general problems.

"We have no doubt that the user group will play a valuable role, not only acting as a central hub of information sharing on CA solutions but also enabling us, as a company, to more effectively communicate and assist our users in the country, seeing that we don`t have an official office in Nairobi," says Johan Redelinghuys, account manager (Africa) at Computer Associates Africa.

"Furthermore, a user group will undoubtedly add to and enhance the skills development in CA solutions in the country, which is beneficial to us, our partners as well as our users in Kenya."

Adds James Munene, Head of IS Operations at Kenyan Airways: "With the growing dependency on CA products in managing our service delivery processes, and the need to realise the benefits of our investments in CA solutions, it was necessary that we create a forum where we could effectively communicate our needs to CA.

"We realised a user group would offer us a common platform for the members not only to exchange knowledge and skills but also strengthen our influence on CA`s service delivery and product development. The various joint initiatives between CA and the members through the planning and realisation of the group registration have already served to cement our relationship as a user group and CA. We are looking forward to a very fruitful and exciting relationship that will be of great benefit to both the team members and CA."

CA`s User Groups enable users to discuss current product releases, network with other users, participate in technical discussions and presentations as well provide input on product enhancements.

"As a company, we believe our various user groups across the globe continue to ensure active and ongoing communication between our customers, product development and support personnel," concludes Redelinghuys.
