Galdon Data today announced that the company and all its assets had been acquired by First Technology Holdings, one of South Africa's leading independent information technology providers that has representation in every major metropolitan region in the country.
“We are and always have been a very independent unified communications solutions provider, and one of the key strengths of Galdon Data is its architectural and implementation skills and technical capabilities in this growing and maturing market,” commented Garry Ackerman, Managing Director of Galdon Data.
“We are a Certified Microsoft Gold Partner and hold a Unified Communications competency. Galdon Data is the only Tier 1 National System Integrator (NSI) Voice partner in South Africa. It was a Top Microsoft Partner in 2009 for Unified Communications and also a Finalist in 2008 and 2010 for Unified Communications Solutions - Partner of the Year. Furthermore, we are a RightFax service company, with the largest service market share in southern Africa.”
“In addition, bearing in mind that our customer base is heavily Microsoft focused, we have also been successful in partnering with First Technology, a major Microsoft licensing partner, on a number of occasions over the past 12 months or so, to offer unified communications solutions,” continued Ackerman.
“Thus, this latest step is a natural progression in this relationship that will enable us to offer a much more comprehensive set of Microsoft solutions to our customers, and provide them with the backing and other additional capabilities that a 'big brother' brings to the table.”
“Galdon Data is the leading provider in South Africa of unified communications solutions, and thus has a unique and strong position in this market, especially with the latest release of Microsoft Lync software. Its skills in this area are well respected and will complement our strengths and capabilities within the Microsoft-focused part of our company,” added Arnold Sharp, CEO of First Technology. “In addition, the RightFax business of Galdon Data provides an additional offering for the group and presents some interesting opportunities going forward. Galdon Data is a services business that is very successful, and thus, the company together with its expertise, is a fitting addition to our group services focused strategy. This is particularly so in the light of the industry consolidation that is happening at the present time, which in turn is a response to the pressure and requirements emanating from the user community. We welcome them into the family.”
“Galdon Data will continue to operate as a completely independent company within the First Technology organisation under the leadership of the current directors and management team,” concluded Ackerman. “Nevertheless, this deal unlocks significant value for our customers as it allows them to source a comprehensive range of solutions and services through a single group. Thus, we view this deal as a 'win-win' situation for all the parties involved.”
