First Technology provides it solution for Cray Valley

Johannesburg, 20 Nov 2001

In a deal valued at around R1-million, First Technology has provided chemical company, Cray Valley Resins SA with an end-to-end IT solution at the company`s Isipingo, Durban plant.

Following a move to new premises, Cray Valley Resins SA, a subsidiary of French-based chemical giant, TotalFinaElf required new network cabling, a server room and the setup of hardware and software.

According to First Technology account manager, Jenny Vaughan: "The new site required considerable construction before the hardware could be installed. A building sub-contractor was appointed to construct an IT room and provide security before cabinets containing the networking equipment could be installed."

"We evaluated the market at the outset of the project and elected to partner with First Technology for a number of reasons," says Jeremy Allan, IT manager at Cray Valley.

"We were looking for an IT company that could not only meet our immediate requirements but would also form a long-term partnership with us. Having worked with First Technology for a number of years before joining Cray Valley, I was delighted to be able to continue the relationship."

Jithan Bridgmohan, financial manager at Cray Valley says the installation was completed on time and on budget with the implementation going live without a hitch.

"First Technology provided sound advice regarding the correct and most cost-effective technology solution to employ," he concludes.
