Independent IT service provider First Technology has invested heavily in providing technical support and services into Africa, developing a dedicated and expansive partner network that stretches across 24 countries.
According to Dennis Duff, regional technical SLA manager at First Technology, the company offers support and services in Africa.
"Our technical services footprint covers Angola, Botswana and Namibia, as well as Nigeria, Cameroon and Congo; West African countries such as Senegal, Ivory Coast and Ghana, as well as Algeria in North Africa," he says.
He says, on the back of a boom in communications infrastructure development in Africa, the market is large enough to warrant massive investment from players specialising in technical services.
"In co-operation with our established channel infrastructure, we are able to deliver real value, an extensive amount of experience, and provide high-end technical support to customers by leveraging off the established service network," he adds.
First Technology maintains one of the largest teams of highly skilled technical personnel in South Africa - and this technical skills pool is utilised to great effect to service the African customer base.
In addition, outsource companies in various African regions have formed partnership agreements with First Technology, which ensures that they are able to perform services for and on behalf of First Technology.
"To ensure that support is sustained satisfactorily over the long term, all our partners carry the same hardware and software accreditation of First Technology," he explains.
"Competing in almost 20 different markets presents its own set of challenges, particularly when one considers that we have to adapt our business model to suit every country. We continuously focus on various challenges relating to training and support, and the logistics of providing our partners with the relevant products," he concludes.
