First version release of MIMEsweeper since acquisition

Delivers greater ease of use, throughput, resilience and productivity features in the world`s leading e-mail gateway content security product

Clearswift, the world`s leading provider of software for managing and securing electronic communications, today announced the latest version of its market-leading SMTP Gateway content security product - CS MAILsweeper 4.3 for SMTP.

MAILsweeper disassembles e-mail and e-mail attachments at the SMTP Gateway, validates the content against the organisation`s e-mail policy and cleans, detaches or blocks threats before delivery to the intended recipient(s).

MAILsweeper for SMTP, launched in 1996, is part of the Clearswift MIMEsweeper family of products - the most customisable, flexible and extensible e-mail products available today. MAILsweeper for SMTP analyses incoming and outgoing e-mail at the Internet gateway, allowing organisations to implement management and security policies to block inappropriate e-mails, comply with legal requirements and increase user productivity. Version 4.3 offers improvements in throughput and resilience, ease of use and productivity features. As a result, it offers organisations greater security, along with lower cost of ownership and a better return on investment.

Networks Unlimited, the South African distributor for CS MAILsweeper for SMTP, is pleased with the release of version 4.3. In-house MIMEsweeper certified engineers, who have tested the product before its release to market, are happy with the simplicity and many extras that the new improved version has to offer, such as increased processing speed.

The addition of a "Getting Started Task Pad" provides a quick and easy way for users to access key MAILsweeper tasks, new Wizards, the online Help system and system information. The Policy Wizard facilitates the whole process of building an e-mail policy, whilst supporting Wizards facilitate the process of creating the individual policy components.

This new release of the product shows that we listen and respond, and that the MIMEsweeper family is entering its next phase of growth," said Grashion.

Changes to the underlying technology have improved overall message processing speed, while also giving more attention to the resilience of the system - in particular, protection against potential `unpack attacks`. E-mail with malformed addresses can be accepted and automatic intelligent attempts are made to correct the addresses.

MAILsweeper has always been known for its depth and breadth of features. The new release strengthens, consolidates and extends this functionality, while delivering significant productivity improvements and gives users greater control of policy and detection and removal of potential threats. Particular attention is given to non-English features, such as support for Chinese character sets and the ability to install on French and German Windows platforms.
