Bytes Document Solutions, authorised Xerox distributor to 24 sub-Saharan countries, has sold the first iGen4 cut-sheet digital press in South Africa to Ince, a leading integrated communications agency in South Africa.
The iGen4 will bolster Ince's 1:1 Relationship Marketing Division as an integral component of its strategy to assist clients with delivering integrated campaigns to market. The iGen4 complements its acquisition of XMPIE, which enables the delivery of cross-media campaigns.
“The iGen4 builds on the success of the iGen3 as a market leader in the digital printing market and allows businesses like Ince to create new revenue streams and profit, and drive their focus of strategic communications campaigns,” says Paul Haglich, marketing manager of the production systems group at Bytes Document Solutions.
“It's best-fit digital technology designed for service providers such as Ince that depend on digital production presses as tools to produce material strategic to their business goals.”
The iGen4 is designed from the ground up as part of an integrated workflow process to capture new business in digital production printing, and grow digital print profit through producing campaigns that typically generate the most profit for communications solutions businesses.
The productivity of digital presses - the amount of uptime service providers get from their systems to produce campaigns for their clients - is a key factor to increasing revenue. The iGen4 increases productivity by 25 to 35% by automating operator tasks, reducing the need to interrupt the press for adjustments and decreasing overall operating costs. As a result, the iGen4 improves the break-even point between digital and traditional offset printing - making it faster and more economical to print jobs on digital - which has an enormous impact for customers on their campaign costs. In addition to investing in the iGen4, Ince has also upgraded its iGen3 in Johannesburg with the Automated Colour Quality Suite (ACQS), to put its iGen3 on par with the iGen4 in terms of automated colour calibration and management processes that will result in a significant improvement in productivity.
"Communications solutions businesses are always looking for quicker and more efficient ways to produce a variety of campaigns with the best image quality, to build profitable business and deliver the best possible quality to their clients, in a timely fashion while meeting budget expectations," says Haglich.
The iGen4 is suitable for service providers who need to generate anywhere from hundreds of thousands to millions of pages of material every month.
"The advantages of going digital in this industry are clear - the ability to personalise, faster turnaround times, economical shorter run lengths and more," says Haglich. "With the high-definition quality and productivity of the iGen4, more print jobs can go digital, like photo applications that need to be picture perfect on every page."
Industry advancements with iGen4
With 400 new parts and subsystems as well as new patented technologies, the iGen4 offers high-definition image quality, producing sharp images and vibrant colours enabled by several new components, such as the Auto Density Control, Carrier Dispensing System, High-Definition Linearisation, and Advanced Colour Profiling.
It can accurately match the popular GRACOL (general requirements for applications in commercial offset lithography) standard, and takes advantage of ICC (International Colour Consortium) DeviceLink Profiling for higher performance. A colour matching industry benchmark, GRACOL offers a new source profile option for the most demanding jobs. The ICC DeviceLink Profiling allows for faster processing and improved colour rendering.
The iGen4 also adds a high-speed inline spectrophotometer right in the paper path. The device automatically creates colour samples on target sheets, registers them for accuracy and processes the data - all at the rated speed of the iGen4 - and takes the appropriate action to adjust the press. The results are offset and photo image quality comes along with spot colour accuracy.
Designed to help print providers reduce their environmental footprint, the iGen4 uses dry inks that are non-toxic and cause minimise waste. More than 97% of its components are recyclable or can be remanufactured.
