Flash storage drives the cloud
Cloud computing and flash-based storage, two of the fastest growing technologies in IT, may drive each other forward as Internet-based service providers demand faster access to large amounts of data, reports PC World.
Flash storage has lower reading latency than hard disk drives because it doesn't need to spin a disk to get to a particular bit of data.
With solid state disks and PCI Express flash cards, it's possible to read data anywhere in the device in less than a millisecond, compared with several milliseconds on a hard drive.
AAM Technologies eyes Middle East
In the Middle East, enterprise architecture management (EAM) is a relatively unknown term, according to itp.net.
As the world continues to reel from the effects of the first recession of the current century, most vendors are back-pedalling on their efforts to expand into other regional markets.
AAM Technologies, EAM software vendor and consultants, is currently drawing up plans to establish a presence in the Middle East, but insists that opening an office is not part of the initial arrangements.
Gartner urges 'emergent architecture'
Enterprise architects must adopt a new style of EA to respond to the growing variety and complexity in markets, economies, nations, networks and companies, according to Gartner, states Internet Ad Sales.
Analysts advised companies to adopt 'emergent architecture', also known as middle-out EA and light EA, and set out definitions of the new approach at the Gartner Enterprise Architecture Summits in London and Orlando, Florida.
The first key characteristic of the emergent approach is best summarised as 'architect the lines, not the boxes', which means managing the connections between different parts of the business rather than the actual parts of the business themselves,” said Bruce Robertson, research vice-president at Gartner.
