Fluke Networks integrates with Cisco WAAS

* Fluke Networks' Visual Performance Manager 5.0 now measures and reports the return on investment of Cisco WAAS projects.
* Plus new executive overview of critical applications performance provides fast validation of business services delivery, better utilisation of IT resources.

Everett, Washington, 02 Mar 2009

Fluke Networks today announced Visual Performance Manager 5.0, a networked application performance e-assurance system that can now measure and demonstrate the return on investment (ROI) of Cisco WAAS deployments.

Using Visual Performance Manager, network engineers can now optimise the delivery of critical business services to the enterprise by comparing the performance of accelerated and non-accelerated applications in Cisco WAAS optimised environments.

“Complete visibility of networked applications is critical for the proper management and delivery of business services,” said Scott Allen, Vice-President of Marketing for the Performance Management Business Unit at Fluke Networks. “By supporting Cisco WAAS and providing quick access from executive overview to problem diagnosis, Fluke Networks empowers network teams with the best visibility and information to support the business.”

Visual Performance Manager 5.0 evaluates both the pass-through (non-accelerated) and Cisco WAAS-accelerated application end-user response times. It also identifies the WAAS policy used in each transaction, such as TCP Flow Optimisation, Data Redundancy Elimination, compression and application optimisers. This information is critical to optimising the mix of business applications delivered over the wide area network to maximise bandwidth usage and to improve end-user productivity.

Visual Performance Manager 5.0 also includes new enhancements to provide executive overviews of the status of critical business applications. Using the heat chart concept, end-user response time of multi-tier applications are displayed and tracked for intervals ranging from one day up to one year. Conformance and deviations from the response time baselines are indicated by green, yellow, or red. When a deviation occurs, the network manager can easily click through the heat chart to the actual alarm and the affected sites, significantly speeding up root cause analysis.
