FLUX helped GIBS in helping you take the next step

The Gordon Institute of Business Science launches neXt - South Africa's first management-level online career mentor (www.next.gibs.co.za)

When it comes to self-reflection and career development, making those life-changing 'neXt' decisions can be the toughest a person will ever make. People often find themselves in a transitional phase; and inevitably face the "But, who do I talk to?" dilemma.

This common predicament prompted the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) to partner with FLUX to develop and launch neXt - South Africa's first personal online career mentor aimed at developing individuals' skills and careers at management-level.

"GIBS has been a long-standing and prestigious client of FLUX, and we were thrilled at the chance of collaborating with them on developing such a ground-breaking and empowering tool for managers in our country," says Werner le Roux, managing director of FLUX.

By using this tool, individuals embark on a process of discovering who they are and what they are capable of doing. This empowers them to strategically and proactively manage their professional images and careers.

"This innovative online offering gives individuals the opportunity to gain valuable self-insight through self-reflection," says GIBS academic director Jonathan Cook.

The neXt tool provides individuals with the opportunity to:

* Keep a private, online journal on their journey of self-exploration
* Assess their management and skills levels
* Use a 360-degree feedback questionnaire to develop a personal action plan
* Generating self-awareness reports
* Benchmark their salaries
* Create curriculum vitae (CVs)
* Select their next course of study by matching their needs to suitable GIBS programme offerings.

"Programming for a service that has never been offered in quite this way online before, presented a creative and technical challenge of some magnitude. We were delighted that FLUX took on this challenge and worked with us to turn what began as a vague dream into a working reality," concludes Cook.
