Flash Media Group (FMG) has released the second version of its popular TMS software.
TMS, or Total Messaging Solution, allows businesses to tap into lucrative potential markets available on consumers' cellphones. This creates new revenue opportunities and can streamline existing products and solutions.
TMS2 is a significant upgrade from the first version. Users are now able to control all their options and configurations from a central Web console and have access to USSD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USSD) services, bulk SMS facilities and premium-rate SMS short codes.
USSD is fast becoming a competitive technology to IVR as it is quicker, cheaper and less cumbersome to use. Using TMS2, it is possible to create an application and link it to a database in minutes and have it immediately available on 30 million handsets in South Africa. The interfaces are exceptionally easy to use and applications can be written by anyone from Web-designers to C++ programmers.
Brendan White, spokesperson for FMG, believes the USSD wave is about to break. "USSD is maturing as a cost-effective and reliable channel," says White. "We have bus ticket booking systems, financial information systems, customer feedback, CRM, and numerous other exciting new developments running on TMS2. USSD is also extremely well suited to call centre environments as an enhancement; it works 24/7 and can handle thousands of calls at the same time."
TMS2 connects to the SMS and USSD gateways on all three GSM networks and forwards messages on to the subscriber depending on what number was dialled or what number an SMS was sent to. This makes it possible for any business to have access to the GSM network without the hassle and cost involved to become a WASP (wireless application service provider).
"Customers now have the full spectrum of mobile messaging at their fingertips by integrating bulk SMS and premium-rate SMS with the USSD services," says White. "Anyone can run their own SMS competitions, send out marketing messages or use the incredible power and simplicity of USSD. SMEs now have access to millions of phones with a minimum of technical know-how."
