
FNB has enhanced the FNB Banking App for smartphones and tablets to include credit card functionality that will enable customers to manage their credit cards more efficiently from their smart device.
The new functionality allows credit card holders to activate and cancel credit cards, order additional or replacement credit cards, and view credit cards and their additional cards, such as a Petro Card, which could be linked to the particular credit card account.
"Until now, app users were able to do everyday credit card banking transactions on the app, such as transfers and payments, and they had to log onto online banking to link their credit card, or phone a call centre to cancel their credit card," says Giuseppe Virgillito, head of channel, banking app, FNB Mobile and Connect.
He says the enhancements on the FNB Banking App remove the need for visiting a separate banking platform, which gives app users a more comprehensive and hassle-free banking experience. It also makes cancelling lost or stolen cards quick and easy, reducing the risk of being defrauded.
The new credit card managing options can be found on the "accounts" tab. The update is automatic for customers who already have the FNB Banking App on their smart device, and new users can download the latest version of the FNB Banking App from their device's app store.
"Our customers' needs play a big role in dictating the FNB Banking App development roadmap. The FNB Banking App is ultimately an enabler of 24 hours a day, seven days a week on-the-go banking, and we trust that the new functionality will help our customers spend less time doing banking administration and more time doing the things they love," concludes Virgillito.
