In an effort to help consumers keep their finances secure, First National Bank (FNB), a division of FirstRand Bank Limited, has introduced FNB Card Security Week, an awareness campaign which will run from 10 to 16 November 2003.
Despite recent media exposure around fraud, many consumers still fail to take the necessary precautions to protect their credit and debit cards, as well as their personal identification numbers (PINs). This campaign aims to highlight the measures that consumers can take to protect their card details.
As part of our commitment to helping consumers, FNB has undertaken similar pioneering initiatives to ensure that you, as a consumer, are always abreast of the latest information and trends to further protect yourself from fraudsters. The fraud brochure, which was placed in all FNB branches last year, is one such example. Click here to view.
In addition to providing you with all the information and tips to keep your card details safe, there are also dedicated teams at FNB that monitor fraud and work around the clock, in conjunction with the SA Police, to block fraudsters.
Research by this initiative has shown that card fraud is often perpetrated by organised crime gangs in order to fund other serious crimes such as drug dealing and hijacking syndicates. Yet much of this crime can be easily avoided by greater awareness from the public.
FNB is proud to be partnering with Metro FM and ITWeb, which will bring you all of FNB`s latest tips on card security.
Listen to Metro FM from Monday to Wednesday for daily tips on the do`s and don`ts of card security. At 7pm, Given Mkhari will speak to an FNB spokesperson on related issues. For more details, click here.
ITWeb will also publish exclusive FNB Card Security Week articles daily for the duration of the campaign. To read more, click here.
