First National Bank (FNB) has called upon its employees and all South Africans to assist the many thousands of victims of the tsunami disaster in Africa and Asia.
As FNB firmly believes in playing its part in upholding the international community and extending its spirit of helpfulness to those stricken by this tragedy, it has opened the following account to which financial contributions may be made:
Account name: FNB Trust - Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund
Account Number: 62075380049
Branch Number: 255005
Branch Name: FNB Corporate Account Services JHB
Said FNB CEO Michael Jordaan, "In many cases this disaster has tragically struck those who are most vulnerable. Those of us able to offer assistance should not hesitate in sharing the benefits of our good fortune."
FNB customers may also make donations using their eBucks on the bank`s online banking website.
In its statement, the bank noted that this tragedy has happened at a time of year characterised by heightened consumerism.
"FNB urges everyone to look beyond their own interests and make generous contributions that may very well save lives in the coming days and weeks," said Jordaan.
The bank further encourages donations by its employees via its Volunteers Programme, an initiative set up to provide staff with the opportunity to become involved in projects to assist others in society. This Programme is aligned to the bank`s vision of being a great business, helping to create a better world.
The bank will publish regular updates of the fund value on its website (www.fnb.co.za). The money raised will be expended in conjunction with initiatives of the Government.
