FNB`s VideoBank online business banking service has been upgraded to make it Y2K compliant while at the same time, Internet functionality has been added to the service.

VideoBank users now have the choice of banking via a fully secured Internet connection or through Telkom`s new CyberTrade online service. CyberTrade will replace Beltel when it is switched off on November 1 this year.

"VideoBank has been around for over ten years and has built up a strong and loyal customer base of about 18 000 users conducting up to R2-billion worth of transactions a month," says Adolph Kaestner, FNB Group Webmaster.

"With the upgrade, VideoBank is now fully Year 2000 compliant. We will continue to provide our business customers with a suitable remote banking solution until the middle of next year when we plan to launch a range of new products." "VideoBank is an important element in FNB`s remote electronic banking strategy bridging the gap between our FirstOnline Internet banking service which is aimed at individuals and our corporate electronic banking solutions which include CAMS, ICAMS, FirstTrade, FirstForex and PACS.

"It also has a number of significant benefits for small to medium business customers. Most notably it is very secure, allowing for dual logins, and multiple batch payments whereby an unlimited number of salary and wages can be made at the same time."

VideoBank can be accessed from any part of the world via the internet - 24 hours a day 365 days a year - using a standard Web browser and internet connection.
