Mobile products and services company Fontera is opening a Johannesburg office to complement its research and development offices in Cape Town.
With additional offices in London and Atlanta, Fontera specialises in text messaging and the integration of text with other platforms such as e-mail, the Internet, instant messaging and interactive voice response.
"Our overseas division is doing very well, but with our development operation based here in SA, we wanted to reach out to the home market as well," says marketing director Simon Leps.
Although it says it is a relative latecomer to the local market, Fontera has worked with companies such as South African Breweries, Metro FM, BMW and Good Hope FM, providing text-based promotional and research tools.
These tools include CampaignTXT, a campaign management program that allows companies to set up and manage text campaigns such as competitions, promotions, surveys, mailings, information requests and votes from wherever they choose and receive real-time statistics. There is also RadioTXT, an in-studio text messaging system that complements the elements of a station`s broadcast from one Web site.
"Text messaging as a marketing tool is a growing trend around the world as it is a low-cost, quick and efficient method of direct marketing," Leps says.
