Ford Motor Company Selects Viasoft`s OnMark 2000 Assess for Desktop Year 2000 Project

Johannesburg, 22 Apr 1998

Viasoft, whose products are distributed locally by USKO Software Group, announced it has signed a licensing agreement with Ford Motor Company. Ford is the second-largest producer of cars and trucks, with manufacturing facilities located in more than 30 countries on six continents. The worldwide agreement will enable the automotive company to utilize Viasoft`s OnMark 2000TM Assess to streamline desktop assessment for year 2000 compliance, managed through Ford`s Global Year 2000 Central Program Office. OnMark 2000 Assess is part of Viasoft`s new comprehensive suite of products designed to address each phase of year 2000 conversion on personal computer desktops and client/server applications. OnMark 2000 Assess analyzes two-digit year problems in databases, spreadsheets and files, and highlights the results. Also, the product identifies and fixes the hardware BIOS for year 2000 readiness. It generates reports that are valuable for estimating the year 2000 problem size and impact, and for project planning. Once remediation is completed, OnMark 2000 Assess can be used to validate and monitor year 2000 readiness up to and beyond the new millennium. "The century date change is an enormous challenge for mainframes all over the world," said Ryan Lawlor, Director of USKO Software Group`s Viasoft Division "But the distributed environment needs to be addressed as well, and organizations are beginning to realize the size and scope of the problem. We are very enthused that Viasoft`s technology will be used by Ford Motor Company, and are honored that Viasoft has been selected for its year 2000 impact analysis project."
