Forerunner MyVoip - at the forefront of VOIP tech

Johannesburg, 03 Jan 2005

The recent deregulation in the telecommunications industry has enabled MyVoip, an associate of Data Magic, to offer VOIP and converged service solutions to government departments, corporates and home users.

As of 1 February 2005, organisations were allowed to use the Internet to carry voice, video and data calls (converged services). MyVoip is a pioneer in South Africa and has already formulated technology offerings that operate as cost reduction packages for customers. These offerings, in conjunction with the interconnect agreements with telecoms operations across the world, provide an excellent platform for reduced cost of communications. By using a voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology and taking advantage of the interconnect arrangements, the distance-related billing charges involved in making calls are avoided. In addition, a discount is received on all calls, leading to a cost saving for organisations of between 20% and 40% per month. MyVoip has also structured a call centre offering, using the same technology as deployed in its VOIP offering.

MyVoip Communications (MVC) is a 100% HDI-owned corporation with a BEE Level Three Compliance Certificate from Empowerdex. Its consultants have extensive experience in developing solutions across the entire IT development cycle. MVC specialises in cost-effective, universal open source technologies using various development tools and languages, and specialises in bespoke Java development. The provision of VOIP communication services is achieved by using Asterisk as a base, and MVC has developed its own custom contact centre technologies. The organisation has recently added an outsourcing section to its services as well as an Asterisk support division.

MyVoip has formulated an unrivalled offering for southern Africa today. The organisation employs a group of technology, IP telephony, software, business process and telecommunications experts. In addition to being able to address the software, process integration and information technology systems issues faced by its clients, MVC is also able to address their communication, VOIP and IP telephony solutions requirements. The offerings are state-of-the-art and leading-edge, in addition to being robust, reliable, flexible and cost-effective. This enables its customers to derive the benefits of the various offerings and innovations in technology without putting their day-to day operations at risk. In addition, MVC covers the full spectrum of IT solutions, including one of its primary areas of focus, namely: telecommunications.

MyVoip is managed by a number of industry specialists that are able to address all of the various requirements of design, construction, modification, delivery, integration, training, roll-out and implementation of all aspects of telephony, communications and converged telecommunications solutions. The offerings range from gateways, call termination, networks, PBX and switching, either as discreet offerings or as part of a comprehensive VOIP platform. This is primarily achieved through the use of open source platforms. The main technology is Asterisk, which is an open source converged platform that was designed to enable different types of IP telephony hardware, middleware and software to consistently interface with each other, without sacrificing quality of service.
