Foster-Melliar, in partnership with UK-based training company ILX Group plc, has launched an ITIL distance learning programme that is a first for southern Africa.
"As a direct result of our partnership with ILX Group plc, Foster-Melliar is now able to offer interactive multimedia computer-based training to our learners that effortlessly combines teaching and technology, creating a 'blended learning' environment that gives attendees the best of both worlds," says Ian Butow, General Manager: Business Development Foster-Melliar.
"ILX's accredited ITIL Foundation Certificate training course is a multimedia training course developed in the UK. The course incorporates animation, interactivity with dual voice tutorials and a multiple choice simulated examination, effectively making it the most comprehensive distance learning course of its kind available on the market today," says Butow.
"This e-learning option offers corporate clients who cannot necessarily afford their IT staff to be away from the office, for a traditional three-day classroom foundation course, an alternative method of gaining the foundation certification," says Butow.
"The computer-based training (CBT) provides a more convenient way to study ITIL, equipping learners with the knowledge to obtain the ITIL Foundation qualification at a time and pace to suit each student," explains Butow. "The foundation course consists of seven topics and requires no formal entry requirements, assuming all delegates will have a basic level of IT literacy or experience in a service support or service delivery role.
"The full course can be delivered by CD-ROM, network or intranet and provides the training equivalent of a three-day classroom training course inclusive of a full student manual reflecting the course content," explains Butow. "A feature of this training programme is our new blended method which includes a one-day overview workshop for the e-learning students in order to ascertain that the content of the work is fully understood and sufficiently covered prior the exam."
Exam hints and tips will also be covered during the one-day workshop to help prepare the candidates for the final exam.
