Foster-Melliar named as a Vesta Technologies VAR

Vesta Technologies has appointed Foster-Melliar as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for its Web-based e-learning platform, WebActive.

"WebActive enables effective knowledge management processes, as well as enhancing online learning and training, a process critical to combating the local skills shortage because of its speed and flexibility," says Magda Morrison, MD of Vesta Technologies. "The two companies have many synergies, particularly within the e-learning sector, and it made sense for us to team up with Foster-Melliar and take this locally developed product to market."

Patrick Evans, CEO of Foster-Melliar agrees: "Foster-Melliar has been involved in the content management space for around two years now and has identified it as a global emerging market. This is the ideal opportunity for us to team up Foster-Melliar`s training material with Vesta`s delivery engine, putting WebActive into the e-learning space, both locally and globally."

WebActive is an -based platform that can be run either over the corporate intranet or via the Internet, and is entirely database-driven. "It provides clients with a full set of administration and reporting tools which enables them to measure the success of knowledge acquisition as well as its accessibility within the organisation," explains Morrison.

"The product is an invaluable tool in ensuring employees are continually updating their knowledge, while also enabling management teams to track knowledge resources effectively and appropriately," she says.

Says Evans: "We plan to use this product as a reinforcement tool. For example, if a new methodology, such as CRM, is introduced into the business, the new processes and information can be deployed on the intranet using WebActive, disseminating the necessary knowledge to employees and strengthening the skills base."

Evans believes that WebActive will assist Foster-Melliar in creating value for their customers. "Knowledge management is a great area for value creation - not to be confused with the value-added services already offered to our customers. An improved method of skills delivery leads to enhanced expertise levels. This means that our customers can offer better service to their own clients, creating value or even wealth for them.

"The exciting potential of this partnership is reinforced by IDC`s recent market predictions, which show the future of corporate e-learning to be very bright. Worldwide revenues are forecast to grow beyond $23 billion by 2004, showing massive growth since the 1999 figures of a mere $2 billion," he concludes.
